Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Node Health. If you can't find an answer here, reach out — we read every message.
Getting started
Easily add your lab results either manually, by uploading a PDF, or by scanning your report with your camera. Node Health reads your values, places them within personalized reference ranges, and shows you what's in range and how your results are trending over time.
The app is ideal if you want to proactively manage your health. It's perfect for data-conscious individuals who want to understand their biomarkers, as well as track and optimize them. You can also use the app to prepare for doctor visits and facilitate data-driven discussions with healthcare professionals.
Currently, we support all iOS devices, with development of a tailored iPad version ongoing. Unfortunately, we do not yet support Android.
The Node Health app is free and available on the iOS App Store. Core logging and tracking features are free, while certain premium features — such as our AI upload feature — require Node Health Plus.
Yes. Every value is matched to your personal reference ranges and shown over time, so you can spot trends across months and years. You can add lab reports by manual entry, PDF upload, or camera scan.
If you like, you can back up your encrypted data and files to your iCloud, so your values and reports stay available across all your devices.
Data and privacy
Your data is encrypted and stored directly on your iPhone. If you enable iCloud sync by signing in with your Apple ID, a copy is additionally kept in your own iCloud account so it stays in sync across your Apple devices and can be restored after reinstalling.
During AI processing, your data is anonymized and sent to our AI provider for biomarker matching. Your data is deleted immediately after processing and is not used for training purposes.
Yes, you can export your data at any time directly within the app — for example, to keep for yourself or transfer to a new phone.
Yes — if iCloud sync was active on your previous phone (i.e. you were signed in to the app with your Apple ID), your data is safely stored in your personal iCloud account and can be restored. Just install Node Health on your new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple ID, and your biomarkers and history will sync back automatically.
If iCloud sync was never enabled on the lost phone, the data lived only on that device and unfortunately can't be recovered. We recommend signing in with your Apple ID on your new device so your data is protected against this kind of loss going forward.
Adding and reading results
Yes. Beyond blood values, Node Health covers over 150 biomarkers across blood, urine, and body composition, including Vitamin D, ferritin, TSH, CRP, testosterone, and body-fat percentage. Measurements imported from Apple Health can be included too.
Using our PDF or scan upload feature, we support reports in almost all formats. Additionally, individual biomarkers can be added manually if a report isn't recognized. We're continuously improving extraction quality based on user feedback.
Yes. Node Health connects to Apple Health so your measurements can live alongside your lab results in one place — making it easy to keep all of your biomarkers together and compare how related markers trend over time.
Today we bring in your body-composition measurements: weight, body fat percentage, and lean body mass are imported directly into the matching biomarkers, and your BMI is calculated automatically from your imported weight. Readings sourced from Apple Health are clearly labelled, and any value you have added manually or from a lab report always takes precedence.
This is just the start — more to come here soon.

Since we place great importance on accuracy and reliability, we maintain our own biomarker database. Each new addition goes through a strict approval process by a medical professional. We do not rely on AI or other services to provide biomarker information; instead, we use established clinical sources (major European and US-based research institutes).
PDF formats vary widely between labs and can sometimes be difficult to parse. If a value is missing, you can add it manually in seconds. We use feedback from cases like this to improve recognition for all users.
Reference ranges
We rely on established clinical sources (major European and US-based research institutes) for our standard reference ranges. It is important to compare these with your lab-specific ranges and customize them if necessary.
By default, the range provided by your laboratory is used for each reading, as it reflects the clinical interpretation applied when the result was originally reported.
Two situations override this behaviour: a personalised range configured for a biomarker (available with Node Health Plus), or the "Use Node ranges throughout the app" option in Display settings.
When no laboratory range has been provided with a reading, Node Health's default reference range is applied as a fallback.
Where appropriate, reference ranges are personalized based on your age, sex, height, and life stage (e.g. pre/postmenopause). Node Health Plus also allows you to customize individual biomarker reference ranges to better suit your needs.
"Standard" reflects average values found in a general population sample in Western Europe. Being within this range is considered healthy and usually means your values align with typical trends.
"Optimal" is based on emerging research and wellness-focused studies. This range reflects levels associated with positive health outcomes. It is not a clinically standardized threshold and is intended as a wellness guideline rather than a medical reference.
It's important to always compare these ranges with those provided by your lab and consider your personal situation, as individual results may be influenced by many factors that population averages cannot account for.
Other
Currently, our app does not provide specific health or medical recommendations. We place great importance on accuracy and reliability and remain cautious due to the sensitive nature of health-related advice.
However, we do provide basic information on where your values lie and what can be done to help keep them within a normal range. Please note that this information consists of publicly available sources tailored to your personal situation (e.g. gender, age). It's also important to understand that all information provided by the app does not constitute medical advice. We always recommend consulting healthcare professionals for personalized medical guidance before taking any specific action.
We love hearing from users. Reach out via the Contact section in the app or email us — we read everything, and many of our most-used features come directly from user requests.
